Blessed Feast of the Assumption of the Body of St. Mary
But He answered them, saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?” And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother” (Mark 3:33-35).
If someone can become the brother of the Lord by coming to faith, we must ask how one came also become His mother. We must realize that the one who is Christ’s brother and sister by believing becomes His mother by preaching. It as through one brings forth the Lord and infuses Him in the hearts of one’s listeners. And that person becomes His mother if through one’s voice the love of the Lord is generated in the mind of his [or her] neighbor. – St. Gregory the Great
