“Let every man and woman among us, whether meeting together at church or remaining at home, call on God with much earnestness, and He will doubtless accede to your petitions. From where does this appear evident? Because He is exceedingly desirous that we should always take refuge in Him and in everything make our requests to Him. He desires that we do nothing and speaking nothing without Him. For with others, when we trouble them repeatedly concerning out affairs, they become slothful and evasive and conduct themselves unpleasantly toward us; but with God it is quite the reverse. It is not when we continually seek and go to Him about our affairs, but when we fail to do so that He is especially displeased. Hear at least what He reproved the Jews for when He says, ‘You have taken advice, but not of Me’ (Isa. 30:1). For this is the custom of those who love; they desire that all the concerns of their beloved should be accomplished by means of themselves; and that they should neither do anything, nor saying anything without them…Let us not then be slow to take refuge in Him continually; and whatever is the evil or trouble, it will in any case find its appropriate solution.” – St. John Chrysostom
